Did Rakesh Roshan Lie About Krrish 3 Box Office Collections?

Rakesh Roshan has time and again maintained that his latest release Krrish 3 starring Hithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra has grossed Rs. 500 crores. However, his son and male lead of the film Hrithik Roshan has issued a press release stating that the film has fetched not more than Rs. 299 crore! Krrish 3 was one of the biggest hits of 2013. The cast and crew members had not left out anything in the making or the promotions to ensure that the film is a sure shot hit. Well, hit it was! However, the buzz doing the rounds now is that Rakesh Roshan had purposely given inflated numbers to the media, now that his own son and actor of the film has made it clear that Krrish 3 fetched only Rs. 299 crore, and that includes domestic(Rs. 244 crore) as well as international (Rs. 55 crore) Box Office collections.



Within a week of Rakesh Roshan declaring to the media that Krrish 3 had collected Rs. 500 crore, a few trade analysts and even industry insiders began questioning the authenticity of his claims. However, Rakesh Roshan stood by his claim saying that it's impossible to exaggerate or inflate box office collections. He had further said that he has been getting updates from distributors, exhibitors and theatre owners and hence the figures are full proof. However, Hrithik Roshan recently issued a press release which clearly explains that the film did not make so much money. In the press release, Hrithik explained that the film collected Rs. 244 crore from India approximately and got a collection of Rs. 55 crore overseas.
